Jason Wu Is Target's Next Designer Collaboration!
The retail giant tapped one of the biggest names in American fashion for its next Go International collection.

The Marie Claire offices were thrown into a frenzy the day the Missoni for Target collection hit the web, and while many of us were bummed that we didn't score the zig-zagged pieces that we had our hearts set on, we were not alone: The collaboration between the mass retailer and the famed Italian fashion house was so popular that it crashed the Target website and many items were oversold, causing some customers' orders not to be filled. While this is certainly not the norm for the Target designer collaborations — which have included Proenza Schouler, Alexander McQueen, Rodarte, and Thakoon in the past — the next designer up on the roster is one of the biggest names in New York fashion today, and we can certainly see women all over the country clamoring to get their hands on one of his Target creations.
Through a series of clues on its Twitter page, Target revealed this morning that Jason Wu will be its next limited edition designer collaboration. While he is best known for dressing Michelle Obama for the 2009 Inaugural Ball and his celebrity clientele that includes Diane Kruger and Lea Michele, Wu's incredible collections have earned him both critical acclaim and a CFDA Fashion Award for Womenswear in 2010. His sophisticated, ladylike designs range from ballgowns to sporty separates, so there will surely be something for everyone when his Target line launches — just the idea of scoring one of Wu's wares at the Target price point has us giddy with anticipation!
Mark your calendars now: the Jason Wu for Target collection drops on February 5, 2012 — if camping out at your nearest Target store doesn't sound like fun, keep your fingers crossed that the site doesn't crash.
