Friends! Early morning temperatures have been in the 30s and 40s in New York this week. But as far as I’m concerned, spring has sprung and I’m ready for the new season. I’m going to hop right into our topic of discussion this week, so if you’re coming, c’mon—here are my go-to outfit formulas for these not-so-hot, not-so-cold weather moments. Over the next few months, this is most likely what I’m wearing under my Sézane trench, Burberry car coat, or Barbour waxed jacket.

CARDIGAN + TROUSERS + SLIM SNEAKERS

On days when I’m clocking no fewer than 15,000 steps, going from the gym to the office to evening events, this formula is an old faithful.

CROPPED JACKET + PLAIN TEE + JEANS + ANKLE BOOTS

I’m bullish on cropped jackets, as you all know from last week’s newsletter. This shape lends a polished touch to an otherwise simple trio.

CHUNKY KNIT + MIDI SKIRT + KNEE-HIGH BOOTS

Falling under the “switch one thing out” method of styling—this outfit combo was an unlock for me when I decided to put my jeans on ice and give skirts a try instead.

BLAZER + JEANS + WEDGE SANDALS

This one isn’t rocket science—just a simple reminder that a blazer and jeans will never ever go out of style. Play with textures (a linen blazer, for example) to update the combo.

Anatomy of an Outfit

I have to be honest: This week had hands. Between Mercury retrograde and having to leave the house by 7 a.m. almost every day (knowing I wouldn’t return until after 10 p.m.), Tier 1 outfits were an afterthought. But still, I rise.

MONDAY:

In case you missed it, I’m training for a half marathon and can’t wait to make that my entire personality for the next three months. The week kicked off with a group run and then I went straight to the office for many, many meetings.

TUESDAY:

Another early morning call time—and on the way to the train, the heel on my boot broke! Thankfully, I had a pair of office-friendly sneakers and happened to stash some slingback heels at my desk, perfect to wear to a U Beauty dinner later that evening.

THURSDAY:

The theme of this week—and really, my whole method to getting dressed—was low lift, high impact outfits. Another day full of meetings followed by an incredibly fun dinner hosted by Veronica de Piante called for a bold sweater and old faithfuls I always feel comfortable wearing. Fun fact, my top and jeans come from the men’s section!
