4 Key Pieces Defining My Fall Personal Style
From sturdy barn jackets to cozy crewneck sweaters.
I find myself thinking about my personal style most when fashion month and a seasonal change kick off. There are so many opportunities to stray from what I know I’ll really love and wear (often influenced by people, brands, random dress codes, and street style images), but writing this week’s letter was really quite helpful. Making this list encouraged me to consider my fall without-fail pieces, so without further ado, here they are!
Chore/Field/Barn Coats
I have so many versions of these types of coats, I should just pack it up and move to the countryside. Though they’re very cool right now, there’s something inherently anti-trend about them that I’ve always loved. Form meets function in this style and that always keeps me coming back for more.
Navy Crewneck Sweaters
Let me preface this by saying I am trying to break the habit of buying this specific type of sweater. I really am! But designers come out with more and more of them each season, and I cannot be stopped.
Loafers and Boat Shoes
I’m just counting down the days until it gets really cold so I can wear my loafers or boat shoes with socks again. Picture them paired with some baggy jeans (very excited about these Levi’s that are under $100) and yep, my navy crewneck sweater. Last year, the socks were red and the year before that, they were chunky or fuzzy. What will this year bring? Watch this space.
Denim of All Cuts and Sizes
I am not a denim loyalist. My stacks include all kinds of jeans—from skinny and straight legs to barrel and baggies. I’ll shop brand new or vintage; mens or womens—it’s really just about trying a whole bunch on and going with what I love. There is no right or wrong, in style or out of style, for me when it comes to jeans.
