30 Linen Pieces From Nordstrom’s Sale for a Seamless Summer to Fall Transition
Shop breezy dresses and airy pants for versatile summer and autumn outfits.
It’s no secret that dressing in lightweight linen pieces is one of the best ways to beat the sweltering summer heat, but they can also work well as fall transition pieces. Despite the fact that my summer capsule wardrobe is filled to the brim with gauzy linen garments, my collection is starting to feel in need of a refresh. I’ve had most of my linen clothes for years, and although there’s nothing wrong with a lived-in look, I'm beginning to notice gaping seams, frayed hemlines, and stretched-out fabric. In need of a major revamp, I’ve turned to Nordstrom to refresh my lineup of linens.
Since the retailer is currently hosting its annual Anniversary Sale in tandem with their regular sale, I’ve discovered a slew of markdowns on a variety of linen pieces. Alex Mill's Madeline Shirtdress is 30 percent off, Faithfull the Brand's Nelli Linen Maxi Skirt dropped in price from $239 to $120, and Free People’s Fall for Me Sleeveless Linen Blend Knit Top is now under $30.
I’ve handpicked the best on-sale linen pieces from Nordstrom that you’ll want to wear on repeat for the rest of the summer. Plus, plenty of these items can be styled as transitional looks that will carry over to fall.
If something catches your eye, I recommend grabbing it quickly. The retailer’s Anniversary Sale ends on Sunday, August 4, so time is of the essence!

Simplify your warm-weather wardrobe with Alex Mill’s Madeline Shirtdress. Thanks to its neutral shade and straightforward silhouette, this piece offers a ton of styling options. For an easygoing look, try wearing this dress with a pair of slide sandals and a woven basket bag.
Subtle features like an embroidered sweetheart neckline and delicate ladder stitching work to make this white dress so special. Looks aside, this lightweight number is also super practical for sizzling days.
I own around 15 button-down shirts, and I can wholeheartedly say that I use them regularly. Whether I’m wearing a button-down as a bathing suit cover-up or as an extra layer over a tank top, this style has become an unequivocal staple in my wardrobe.
Take a close look at this linen sweater dress, and you’ll notice a summery crochet pattern stitched throughout. Make sure to add this piece to your collection of vacation outfits before you jet off to your next destination.
Designed with a lengthy inseam and a flexible drawstring waist, these shorts were made with comfort in mind. But don’t just take my word for it. “These shorts are very cozy, lightweight, and overall perfect for a hot summer day,” says a pleased Nordstrom shopper.
Allow me to introduce you to Vince’s straight-leg pants, which will likely become your favorite pair of tailored trousers. Crafted with a discreet elastic waistband and a roomy construction, you’ll want to wear these bottoms on repeat.
Although shorts are usually considered casual, I would argue that this pair from Cinq à Sept actually feels quite elevated. I love how the pintuck pleats set these bottoms apart from the rest.
According to Marie Claire editors, a shift dress ranks high on the list of best work dresses simply because this style is a true classic. For days in the office, pair this piece with kitten heels and a sturdy laptop bag.
I’m obsessed with this saturated shade of pink. I usually don’t wear a lot of vibrant colors, but I can easily see myself making an exception for Eileen Fisher's button-up. To allow this piece to take center stage, I’ll style it with neutral bottoms that are more subdued.
If you’re not afraid to make a statement, slip into Farm Rio’s linen mini dress. It’s decorated with billowing puff sleeves that are dramatic in the best way possible. Also, the striped piping adds a unique sense of dimension.
Initially priced at $399, Nocturne’s cut-out dress is now $267. If you want to add this frock to your closet of summer dresses, make sure to act now because according to Nordstrom’s site, numerous shoppers are currently viewing this item.
Theory’s A-line dress is inherently versatile and you’ll find yourself wearing it many times throughout the week. During your nine-to-five, style this piece with your favorite blouse and a pair of summer work shoes. Meanwhile, for a laid-back weekend outing, opt for a tube top and strappy sandals.
Although we’re in the height of summer, I’m already thinking about what sort of pieces will transition seamlessly into fall. With an autumn-friendly color palette and a lengthy silhouette, Faherty’s Harlow skirt falls right into this category.
When temperatures are unbearably high, you likely won’t want to wear a long-sleeve button-down top. Instead, pick a cropped version like this shirt from Veronica Beard which is designed with cuffed sleeves and a short hem.
A.L.C. is known for its polished styles, so it comes as no surprise that the brand’s linen shorts are beyond sophisticated. Take note of the soft pleats, crisp front pockets, and high-waisted structure.
Adorned with intricate embroidery, Nocturne’s mini skirt is a true work of art. Complete the look with the label’s embroidered blouse to create a cute set.
Mango’s Chiara top is no ordinary linen button-up shirt. This sleeveless top showcases cutaway shoulders, a halter neck silhouette, and an open back that has a peekaboo effect.
It’s been sweltering hot as of late, so wearing heavy clothing is simply not an option. That’s why I’m buying Madewell’s crop top, which is equipped with a functional slit that allows for ample breathability.
My warm-weather wardrobe is filled with blue-and-white stripes, mainly because this color combination is synonymous with summer. Since there’s no harm in adding another set of nautical-inspired stripes to my wardrobe, I’ll be purchasing Ralph Lauren’s tie-waist dress.
When dressing for a heat wave, remember to avoid tight clothing that sticks to your skin. Choose loose-fitting garments instead, like these wide-leg pants from Theory that are nice and flowy.
Searching for an uncomplicated going-out outfit that will work well for summer? Pair this black maxi skirt with a matching crop top and accessorize your outfit with glossy heels and shimmering gold jewelry.
If you tend to overheat in your sleep, consider lightweight linen loungewear. Desmond & Dempsey's relaxed pajamas fit the bill, and although the label offers four charming shades, I’m partial toward this pistachio green hue.
Piecing together a summer work outfit can be quite a challenge, especially because you have to prioritize coverage. That said, Loulou Studio’s Mihant top offers just that while still allowing your arms to breathe.
The beauty of this tank from Free People is that it can be worn in two distinct ways. Style it as shown or pull down the neckline to create an off-the-shoulder look. Whichever option you choose, team this look with baggy jeans for an edgy outfit.
Tailored vests are rising in popularity this season, but truthfully, they’ve never really gone out of style. Invest in this one from Mango and expect to wear it for the long haul.
In need of an extra layer to wear when temperatures dip? Try a linen blazer. This oversized version from AllSaints is enhanced with slightly padded shoulders for a retro feel.
Your closet might already be packed with countless simple tank tops. If that's the case, try this not-so-basic option from Free People which switches things up a bit with a slouchy fit, frayed details, and side slits.
Seeing as though I’ll be traveling to the shore in a few weeks, I’m looking to expand my vacation essentials. I plan to use Caslon’s gauzy bottoms as my new go-to pair of beach pants, styled alongside a trendy bikini and a woven straw hat.
To dress for breezy summer evenings, I’ll be wearing Treasure & Bond’s cardigan. Although this cap sleeve top is fairly lightweight, it’s crafted with a touch of cotton for extra warmth.
Forgo the hassle of matching tops and bottoms, and choose to wear an easy-to-style jumpsuit. With this one-piece garment, all you’ll need to do is figure out what shoes to wear (I’d recommend a pair of chunky sandals to ground your look).
