Big Girl in a Skinny World: Makeovers
Go behind the scenes of this week's Big Girl in a Skinny World episode with host Marcy Guevara.
From the moment I saw Cher and Dionne make over Tai in Clueless, I was obsessed! The joy of helping someone transform and uncover her beauty in a way she's never experienced is the best feeling. I, for one, remember bringing my waxing kit and tweezers to high school and shaping brows during lunch — just for fun.
Makeovers have always been one of my favorite things to do because as a goal-oriented person, it is incredibly gratifying to show up to work and make a radical change happen by the end of the day. That is exactly what the BGSW team did with Samantha.
The energy at West Hollywood's Nine Zero One Salon was electric as our style team set out to change the deserving Marie Claire reader's life. Experts in hair, makeup, color, and more began the process of turning our darling diva into a beach babe.
Samantha is a gorgeous amazon woman and an aspiring plus-size model who asked for help conquering one of the toughest battles we curvy girls fight: the swimsuit. We knew EXACTLY where to look, and gathered suits from Spanx, Kiyonna, Speedo and Monif C. In the end, Samantha was a total knockout in Monif C. She rocked the style at the salon, and was confident she could do the same when she hit the beach.
I hope you'll enjoy watching this episode as much as we enjoyed making it. I'm confident you'll glean some great advice in your effort to achieve the perfect beach bombshell look.
P.S. I am heading the the Big Apple this week for Full Figured Fashion Week, and can't wait to share all of the sassy style I find! You can get in on the party by following me on Twitter and Instagram @themarcyminute. Plus, join Hello Style in an exclusive G+ Hangout after the final runway show at by submitting a video response to any of the #BGSW videos on YouTube. Share your personal style and tell us why you want to hang out with us. We'll pick six of our favorites to chat LIVE with me (Marcy), designers, and models at 9:30pm EST on our channel on June 16.
