Looks We'd Kill to See in Gwyneth Paltrow's (Rumored) Topshop Line
Could the Gwyneth Paltrow have a Topshop capsule collection in the works?
Full disclosure: The Marie Claire office boasts more than a few unabashed Gwyneth devotees, yours truly among them. We live for her perpetually-chic red carpet looks, her weekly GOOP scoop, her Glee cameos—to be honest, we even kind of enjoyed Country Strong. So when word spread this morning that GP was spotted out to dinner in London with Topshop's Sir Philip Green last night, we had to ask—could Gwyneth Paltrow for Topshop be in the works? Green's been known to lock down collaboration contracts during fancy meals, so it's entirely possible that Mrs. Chris Martin could be churning out a high street line in the near future. And with more than a few fashion credits to her name—Gwynnie's the face of Coach, created a one-off capsule for ZOEtee a few years back, and is BFFs with the likes of Stella McCartney and Michael Kors—we wouldn't put it past her. The question is, should this capsule materialize, which of GP's best ensembles would you like to see her put a high-street spin on? We rounded up a few of our favorites right here!
Gwyneth hit it out of the park at this year's Oscars in this shimmering Calvin Klein Collection number. We all know Topshop never shies away from shine, and think their reinterpretation of the metallic look would be divine. Gwynnie's collection would have to include a few accessories, of course, and we nominate a version of these multicolored Louis Vuitton earrings!
We're firm believers that GP has never looked better than she did during her Iron Man press tour—those skyscraper heels and up-to-there minis catapulted her to new levels of chicness. As such, we'd love to see her work an itty-bitty cutout frock like this Stella McCartney stunner into her Topshop capsule.
The UK-based high street brand is internationally known for its awesome outerwear options, and a take on this Mongolian fur jacket would look right at home amongst the racks. Meanwhile, maxidresses are a year-round essential, and Topshop offers some of the best (and most well-priced) ones out on the market.
Once upon a time, Gwyneth was just a beautiful blonde actress whose best-known role was as Brad Pitt's better half. It was her collection of low-cut, floor-sweeping slip dresses that first got her noticed on the fashion scene, so we couldn't imagine Gwyneth for Topshop without a few spaghetti-strapped, chemise-style numbers.
Topshop's basics are beloved by style insiders across the globe, and we're sure that Gwyneth for Topshop versions of the classic black blazer, easy gray tee, and curve-hugging leather pencil skirt would fly out of stores.
At the 2007 Oscars, Gwyneth rocked a jaw-droppingly beautiful gown by Zac Posen that walked the line between sexy and sophisticated. From the unexpected sherbet-orange hue to the elaborate pleating, pulling off a dress with such intricate details would be a true test for Topshop's creative team. But if Kate Moss' smash-hit collab has taught us anything, it's that the British brand loves including black-tie options in their capsule collections.

At a benefit gala back in 2009, Gwyneth chose a body-con, asymmetrical look from Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, one of her favorite labels. And since Preen teamed up with Topshop back in '07 for their own high-street diffusion collection, we're sure their influence would shine through in Paltrow's offerings, too.
There's a place and a time for formal frocks, but Topshop's probably best known for their on-trend, affordable separates. And since Gwyneth's own everyday outfits are always impeccable, we're positive her Topshop lineup would be chock-full of wearable essentials like tweed jackets, tribal-style gladiator sandals, and crisp, cuffed shorts.
