Big Girl in a Skinny World: How to Wear Sequins
Plus-size fashion stylist Ashley Falcon dishes on the right way to do sequins.
Hello Ladies:
Working as a stylist requires an obscene amount of hours scouring through racks of clothes—nevermind the added time it takes actually requesting and returning pieces. (You didn't think it all just showed up at our doorsteps, did you?) This week while pulling items for a shoot from several different stores, I couldn't help but find myself in a sea of sequins no matter where I was. I have been a fan of sequins since about age 5, but of course my use of sequins has become much more judicious and sophisticated with time. The sequin options this season are endless, and with the holidays quickly approaching, I suggest you invest in a great sequin piece to dress up just about any outfit. The JS Boutique Sequin Sheath Dress is for the bold fashionista—it's the perfect party dress.
If too many sequins intimidate you, try the Liz Claiborne Silk Blend Sequin Fair Isle Sweater, an ideal day-to-night piece. It's no secret that I am a big fan of all things accessories, and I make no exception when it comes to sequins. Adding a touch of sequins is the icing on the cake for a night on the town. In the accessories arena, try the Kate Spade Sheldon Pump, my personal favorite and my go to shoe to jazz up a simple dress. Lastly, have fun with it and sparkle your way through the holidays.
