The 2024 Met Gala is in full swing, and to no one's surprise, attendees are showcasing a slew of whimsical looks for the evening, which honors the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s latest spring exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." Guests have been asked to dress according to the theme, “The Garden of Time.” While many A-listers have arrived draped in anticipated symbolism—like gowns adorned with floral appliqués—there have been some rather unexpected interpretations of the theme, including a whole lot of wacky accessories— like intricate headpieces, hourglass handbags, hats, and a whole lot of other finishing touches that didn't make their way onto our spring 2024 trend list.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore an asymmetrical hat that practically hid her face, Zendaya arrived with a huge feather-like structure on her head, and Alexandra Daddario had a golden snake-shaped coronet clipped into her hair. Instead of handbags, some guests chose to carry clever accessories, like Tyla, who clutched an hourglass filled with sand to compliment her fitted hourglass Balmain dress.

Discover the most whimsical accessories of the evening, and stay tuned as we update the evening's statement-making looks.
