There is truly no better time of year to update your fall essentials in your wardrobe than before the onset of chilly weather, especially pre-Labor Day when sales are the name of the game. This includes ideal layering pieces to transition into the colder season and a few new, fresh, foundational wardrobe pieces. Since my own closet needs an update ahead of the new season, I’m shopping the great everyday basics at Everlane, & Other Stories, and Gap to find the best pieces at an affordable price point.

These three retailers—my favorite brands for affordable staples—all rarely run discounts at the same time, so shopping for them now is a must. From the cutest fall jackets to black jeans made for daily wear, you can snag layer-able basics like the cutest lightweight sweaters and floaty work dresses, which are perfect for wearing with strappy sandals now and loafers later in the season.

Keep scrolling for a curated edit of my favorite fashion editor-approved pieces. I scrolled through more than 20 pages of sale items to hand-pick the very best options for your fall outfits.

On-Sale Finds at Gap

From now until August 19, Gap will run its Friends and Family sale, offering deals of up to 40 percent off everything. Discounts are applied at checkout for reference!

On-Sale Finds at Everlane

From now until August 18, Everlane will also be running a Friends and Family sale. The brand will be offering up to 40 percent off on denim essentials. Now is the perfect time to stock up on trendy denim ahead of fall (some of which are discounted down to under $50).

On-Sale Finds at & Other Stories

& Other Stories offers an extra 30 percent off sale items until August 19. That means you can find early-fall essentials like linen pants made to be worn with knitwear (like the cutest cropped cardigan, which I also found) and a maxi skirt available in two neutral hues.
