What I Wear on Repeat: My Chanel Boy Bag
Chanel's Classic Boy Bag Review

In our biweekly series, editors share the item they wear on repeat, whether it be a basic white tee or a super-trendy jumpsuit. Prepare yourself (and your credit card) for some guilt-free shopping.
Being a fashion girl at heart, I tend to obsess over every single aesthetically pleasing piece that hits the runway, season after season. However, in an effort to adhere to a budget, I end up admiring the abstract and trendy pieces released, while setting my sights and funds on the most timeless articles of clothing and accessories. As I mentioned in a previous post for this series, I keep an excel spreadsheet on my laptop documenting all of the current items in my closet and an on-going list of fashion must-haves (sounds extremely meticulous but there is a method to my madness).
Personally, style means so much more than racing to get my hands on the latest and greatest trends. It is more so about investing in clothing that is durable, versatile, and makes me feel like my highest self. I keep close tabs on my evolving wardrobe because my ultimate goal is to build a closet filled with timeless pieces. A wardrobe that speaks to both my feminine and tomboy sides, a collection that can be styled a myriad of ways, and—who knows?—one day be passed on to my future daughter(s). Reigning supreme on my wardrobe excel doc and, in my heart, as one of my all-time favorite handbag purchases to date is the Chanel Boy Bag.
This handbag is the perfect accessory for the girl who loves to get dressed up in a sexy form-fitting dress or sleek pant suit paired with high heels, but also loves her sneakers and a relaxed streetwear moment—yes, this describes me to a T! Introduced by the late Karl Lagerfeld as part of Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, the Boy Bag was inspired by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s love for incorporating masculinity in her style and the handbag’s name is in homage to Coco Chanel’s first love, Boy Capel.
My medium sized boy bag is crafted with smooth, all-black caviar leather complete with gold-toned metal hardware (very on-brand with my neutral-toned wardrobe). This gem of a handbag is super sleek and compact, but can easily house my seven on-the-go necessities: wallet, cellphone, keys, lip balm, airpods, hand sanitizer, and hand cream. It pairs perfectly with my go-to sweatsuit-and-sneaker numbers for chill-days and travel, as well as acts as a standout accessory for times when I decide to get all dolled up (which have been far and few between since last March). The styling versatility that comes with this handbag makes the hefty price tag a little less intolerable. If you’re currently on the hunt for a splurge-worthy handbag to add to your arsenal, take a look at a few more iterations of the Boy Chanel Handbag, below.
