These Are the Jewelry Trends of 2019, According to Fashion Experts

Jewelry trends come and go every season, just like your favorite shoes or handbags. And while its easy to treat earrings or a ring as an outfit after thought—especially on days you're running late for work—having the right piece can transform a look. Many people, myself included, have one or two gold rings they wear every day or a perfect set of pearl earrings to complete a 9-to-5 outfit, but we should always make room in our wardrobes for an off-the-moment necklace or bracelet that imparts a little personality or whimsy or sophistication.

Not sure what's worth spending your money on in 2019, though? I tapped industry experts, from fashion directors to a style VP, to give you the inside scoop on what to buy. (I was never good at keeping secrets, anyways.) Here, the top four trends they swear will be every where this year. Have fun getting totally decked out.

Trend: Shells and Beads

"We love puka shells and are seeing the trend continue this year. Look to colored shells as the newest update, layered with various lengths and bold colors. Tortoise is also a huge trend, we’re seeing lots of colored tortoise especially in oversized geometric shaped earrings and necklaces." — Caroline Maguire, shopbop fashion director

Trend: Bold Gold Chains

"Bold gold is a must have for 2019. Chains and links give a nod to the '80s for a retro statement. Oversized links in necklaces and bracelets are the perfect statement accessories to complete an outfit." — Shannon Schafer, Nordstrom senior fashion director

Trend: Mismatched Earrings
