Because all you need is love (and pizza, and also Netflix if we're honest) please take a moment to get acquainted with the 13 most romantic movies of 2017. From the Beast and Belle's human-dog romance in Beauty and the Beast (y tho) to Diana and Steve's love story in Wonder Woman, these are the relationships that made our hearts skip a few beats. And in the case of Fifty Shades, the relationship that made us go "dear god MY EYES."
The couple: Reese Witherspoon and 3 Different Men (Kind Of)
Romance scale: 😍 😍
About: A single mom who lets a fleet of aspiring filmmakers stay in her house, all of whom are very good looking. Obviously, love-themed hijinks ensue—but FYI this is more of a romantic comedy and less of a "oh my god this passionate romance has slayed me!" type of movie.
The couple: Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy
Romance scale: 😍 😍

About: Garfield stars as a man afflicted with polio, which dramatically changes his exceptionally loving relationship with his wife, played by Foy. I'm tempted to make a cheesy "love conquers all" reference, but I shall refrain. Suffice it to say this movie is a tear jerker, and their chemistry—while not Notebook or Titanic level—is decent.
The couple: Zoe Kazan and Kumail Nanjiani
Romance scale: 😍
About: The relationship between Zoe Kazan and Kumail Nanjiani's characters isn't necessarily the focal point of this movie (it's about so much more), but the inner romantic in us is still most definitely here for their vibes.
The couple: Jessica Williams and Chris O'Dowd
Romance scale: 😍 😍
About: A total badass named Jessica James who is lost in love, but also finds love, but also who needs love anyway because women are independent on their own, and ugh this movie is so good/has the best ending ever/see it immediately.
The couple: Emma Watson and Dan Stevens
Romance scale: 😍 😍
About: If your interests include love stories between young women and dog-bear hybrids, Beauty and the Beast can get it. Again, it's literally about beastiality, but whatever. Tale as old as time.
The couple: Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍 😍
About: There's a lot to make fun of here, but Anastasia and Christian's relationship is sweet in its own, weird, let's-have-sex-at-a-charity-gala-benefiting-children kinda way.
The couple: Amandla Stenberg and Nick Robinson
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
About: Amandla Stenberg plays a teen with a rare disorder that means she's unable to leave home—which becomes fodder for romance-induced angst when she falls in love with her next door neighbor. Come for the love story, stay for the "HOLY SHIT THIS IS F*CKED UP" twist.
The couple: Gal Gadot and Chris Pine
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
About: Wonder Woman has, of course, much larger and more important themes than heteronormative love, but the dynamic between Diana and Steve is so great—in part because it subverts gender norms.
The couple: Diane Lane and Arnaud Viard
Romance scale: 😍
About: Two middle aged white people who unexpectedly fall for each other on a road trip.
The couple: Kate Winslet and Idris Elba
Romance scale: 😍
About: It's about two strangers stuck on a sexually tense mountain top, like, what more do you need? The movie didn't get great reviews (kay fine, they were terrible), but we stand by the life motto that any relationship involving Idris Elba is one we want to support.
The couple: Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
About: Call Me By Your Name is one of the greatest and most beautiful books yours truly has ever read. The movie, which isn't out until November, is said to be a stunning interpretation of the text, about a young man's relationship with a graduate student who comes to spend the summer with his family.
The couple: Alicia Vikander and Dane DeHaan
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍
About: We're giving this a generous three heart-eye emojis despite the fact that the movie is (at least some say) objectively pretty terrible. But still, the sex scenes are beautiful and the romance is believable.
The couple: Doug Jones and Sally Hawkins
Romance scale: 😍 😍 😍 😍
About: If dog-human relationships aren't your thing, try this human-monster love connection—in theaters this December. As is typically the case with Guillermo del Toro, it's as weird and wild as it is lovely.
