A Surprise Return on Project Runway All Stars Sends Designers into a Tizzy
Nina Garcia returns to up the stakes on this week's Project Runway All Stars.
Fans weren't disappointed this week when the designers were paired up with StyleHaul bloggers as models. "It's incredible to see the fashion world taking note of bloggers and it was a total honor to be chosen to take part," said beauty blogger Fleur de Force on Thursday. "The show was an absolute blast to film, too—the whole experience was a dream come true for me."
The designers were tasked with creating a look that not only met their clients' preferences, but also incorporated Pantone's color of the year: radiant orchid. To make the stakes even higher, longstanding Project Runway critic and Marie Claire creative director Nina Garcia showed up as a guest judge (surprise!).
While Korto Momolu won the challenge by creating an impeccable white suit with hints of orchid on piping and under the blazer's lapel, some designers weren't so lucky. Longtime favorite, Viktor, was sent packing.
Those who made it through to the next round weren't left unscathed. Christopher's design was met with harsh criticism from Garcia, who likened the piece to seaweed (and that wasn't a compliment). Christopher's blogger model felt differently:
"My favorite moment from the show was meeting Christopher. I think he is so talented. His designs are classy and timeless and I was so flattered that he chose me as his model. Although the judges' comments weren't all positive, I really loved my outfit. I agree that he went a little OTT on the details, but the overall look was beautiful, delicate, and stood out from the competition."
While our very own Garcia knows best, there is something to be said about a client liking what she's wearing. #MakeItWork.
