Remembering Glee Actor Cory Monteith
Cory Monteith Death - Lea Michele and Cory Monteith
Beloved Glee actor and boyfriend of Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, was found dead this past Saturday at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver at age 31. Monteith, who played heart-throb Finn Hudson, captured viewers' hearts with songs like "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Losing My Religion." Monteith was recognized for adding raw emotion and a layer of vulnerability to his Glee character, making Finn relatable to viewers and beloved by fans.
Monteith was in an onscreen romance with Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, later developing into a relationship off-camera. In
Marie Claire
's January issue, Michele, our cover star, recalled how their bond developed.
"Meantime, Glee remains her home, both professionally and emotionally. She recently confirmed that she's dating Cory Monteith, her strapping 6'3" co-star, better known as Finn Hudson, also her love interest on the show. For years, the two were just friends, and while Michele swore in numerous interviews that he was like a 'brother,' she now admits, 'It's safe to say there was always a spark between us.'"
Michele later added:
"'I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend,' Michele continues, clearly basking in the glow of new romance. 'No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.'"
An exceptionally talented actor who added depth and chemistry into his character and Glee as a whole, Monteith will be greatly missed and forever remembered. We express our deepest sympathies to Lea Michele, Monteith's family, and friends.
