Miley Cyrus Speaks Out on Controversial New Music Video
Miley Cyrus defends nudity in new music video: 'It's so much more.'
Miley Cyrus responded on Wednesday to her naked-swinging, sledgehammer-licking music video "Wrecking Ball."
The rather controversial music video, directed by Terry Richardson, became Vevo's most-viewed video in a 24-hour period. In an interview with Z100 morning radio host Elvis Duran, the former Disney Channel star downplayed the nudity in her video. "I think the video is much more," she said. "If people get past the point that I'm naked and you actually look at me, you can tell that I actually look more broken than even the song sounds."
She added, "If people can take their minds out of the obvious and go into their imagination a little bit and see kind of what the video really means and the way it's so vulnerable…It was much more of an emotional experience."
What did her father have to say about Cyrus' latest? Billy Ray Cyrus told "Entertainment Tonight's" Nancy O'Dell that beyond the music video, "The song's a smash… and her performance vocally on the tune reflects her roots and sheer God-given talent." Following her guest appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 5, Miley's upcoming album, "Bangerz," is set to release on October 8, 2013. What do you think of the music video?
