Scottie Pippen Has a Huge Team Off the Court, Too: His Family

The retired basketball star is dad to seven kids.

As we learn more about that magical 1997-8 Chicago Bulls championship season from Michael JordanDennis RodmanScottie Pippen, and more via the ESPN docuseries The Last Dance, I couldn't help but wonder what the lives of some of basketball's most iconic stars, and their families, are like now. Pippen in particular sparked my interest, because he participated in the docuseries but is reportedly unhappy about how it turned out. Now retired, the NBA all-star is a father to seven children, and while some of them are following in the footsteps of their father (shocker!), many of the others are doing equally cool things. Pippen's been married twice and is currently estranged from his current wife Larsa Pippen—they've filed for divorce twice, and the 2018 filing is apparently still active—but according to their Instagrams, they both are very involved in their four children's lives. But what about his other three kids? And what do the family members have to say about their very famous father?

Antron Pippen

Antron was born on December 29, 1987, and was the only child Scottie had with ex-wife Karen McCollum (they were married between 1988 and 1990). Antron ended up playing basketball for Texas A&M International University and then signed with the Upstate Heat team of the World Basketball Association. He may have never made it to the NBA like his dad, but he currently plays for a local team in Atlanta, the city where he works as a machine technician at a lab. He looks to be pretty quiet online.

Taylor and Tyler Pippen

Taylor is the second oldest of the seven and was born on July 20, 1994. Taylor had a twin sister, Tyler, but Tyler tragically died in the hospital nine days after her birth. Pippen initially denied the paternity of the twin girls with ex-girlfriend Sonya Roby, but a DNA test proved otherwise. He agreed to pay the outstanding medical bills and provide insurance, although Roby retained full custody.

Rather than basketball, Taylor took an interest in volleyball. In 2016, she signed a contract with the Spanish volleyball Club Voleibol Haris, with whom she won the National Volleyball Cup. She also has a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minor in marketing from Southern Illinois University.

When asked about her relationship with Scottie, Taylor says: "I don't know what he's like as a father. He never wanted to meet me. He decided that, and I prefer not to think about it too much." She continued, according to Gigantes: "I was born and raised near Chicago; Can you imagine how many questions they've asked me about my father? I know how much my last name weighs. I know that people expect a lot from me, but I have learned that Pippen is just that, a last name."

Sierra Pippen

Sierra Pippen was born on February 17, 1995, and faced a similar situation as Taylor. Mother and Scottie's ex-girlfriend, Yvette Deleone, took him to court to prove he was the father. The test ruled in her favor. The pair lived together for a while, but ended up separating after a domestic violence incident in which Pippen was arrested, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Sierra went to college at the University of Iowa, and was charged with public urination and intoxication after being arrested at the Sheraton Hotel near the Iowa campus. She reportedly was arrested at the same place two weeks earlier for getting into a fight with hotel staff. According to her Instagram, she's an artist consultant for UnitedMasters. In a tribute after Kobe Bryant passed away, she said, "I didn’t have the luxury of enjoying The Bulls during the '90s so Kobe Bryant was my Michael Jordan." She also regularly posts pictures of her mother, with whom she seems to be very close.

Scotty Pippen Jr.

The oldest of his four children with his estranged wife Larsa Pippen, Scotty Pippen Jr. was born on November 10, 2000. In a not-so-surprising discovery, he's making a name for himself playing college basketball for Vanderbilt. Before that, he was playing high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles, where the Los Angeles Times named him to the All-Area Team.

His father posts pictures and videos of Scotty and his three younger siblings, including video of them exercising and family photos. He's supported Scotty by showing up to his games as well.

Preston Pippen

Like his older brother, 18-year-old Preston is making some major moves on the court and has an all-star friend group. He's currently a recruit of the 2021 class at Sierra Canyon High School, where he plays basketball in the guard position. Some of his close friends (and teammates) include Shaquille O'Neal's sons Shareef and Shaqir, and LeBron James' son LeBron Jr., Bronny. He also appears to be particularly close to both his parents as well as his older brother.

Justin Pippen

The youngest son of Scottie is (no surprise here!) also playing basketball at Sierra Canyon. He also participated in a modeling campaign titled Faces of The World. The project highlighted portraits of children with diverse upbringings. In 2019, he wrote to Scottie on Instagram, saying, "Happy father’s day to the best dad in the world. You have taught me so much and I wouldn’t be the same person without u!"

Sophia Pippen

Unlike her older brothers, 12-year-old Sophia Pippen has taken an interest in modeling. She's signed to Wilhelmina Models, which represents big names like Kendall Jenner. In 2018, she competed on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors but was eliminated after the fourth week. She also has a close relationship with both her parents, apparently; She and her mom made the news recently when Larsa posted a "twinning" photo of the two in matching bikinis, and got flack in the comments for her daughter's young age.

Like her siblings, she has a seriously famous entourage that includes P. Diddy's twin daughters Jessie and D'Lila Combs, and Kim and Kourtney Kardashian's daughters, North West and Penelope Disick. Am I jealous? Perhaps a little!

The Last Dance airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN.
