Holiday Glam Is Easier (and More Affordable) Than You Think
Here's proof.
Yes, the holiday season is the most wonderful time of year, but it's also the most expensive. When you're not swiping your credit card on festive home decor, you're buying gifts for friends and family, or picking up a last-minute dress for your annual holiday party. In other words, your credit card statement may give you a jumpscare between October and January. While there are tons of items and occasions worth splurging on this season, the one thing you don't have to worry about overspending on is holiday makeup.
SHEGLAM is a go-to beauty brand all year round, but it's pulling out all the stops this year with its holiday assortment. With every lip, cheek, and eye product you could dream of, this selection is perfect for those who tend to transform during the holidays. My fellow beauty editor Samantha Holender happily falls into this category. "I do a 180 during the holiday season—there's quite literally no better time to play with colors, textures (I'm looking at you, sparkle), and go a little extra glam," she says. As our resident beauty guru here at Marie Claire, I asked her to share two looks she'll be sporting this season, and she did not disappoint. If you're ready for highly pigmented formulas, glitter galore, and a few pro tips, just keep scrolling.
THE INSPIRATION
"Everyone needs a classic holiday party look, and this is mine. A shimmery lip and eye combo screams holiday season, and the sparkle-forward glam always brings me compliments."
HOW TO GET THE LOOK
"The key to this look is determination. The Lip Dazzler Kit came with everything I could possibly need. Step one is the easy part. I overline my lips ever so slightly, paying extra attention to the center of my bottom lip. Then, it's time for the glitter. I used the lip adhesive to create a grippy base for the loose glitter. I found that pressing the sparkle in with my finger was the easiest way to get the job done—there might be a bit of a fallout, but overall, it sticks pretty well to the base of my lip. To complete the winter-wonderland vibe, I used the Enigma Sparkly Eyeshadow in the shades Such A Prize and Treasure. It's packed with super-fine glitters and provides a nice reflective sheen to the lid. I blotted any oil away with the Insta-Ready Face & Under Eye Setting Powder Duo in Bubblegum and I felt ready to slip on a party dress."
THE INSPIRATION
"High gloss and a little sparkle go a long way—and getting the look isn't crazy labor-intensive. All you need is a highly reflective shadow and gloss. This look is perfect for dinner with friends, date night, or honestly, just a day at the office."
HOW TO GET THE LOOK
"I kept my base pretty simple in order to let my eyes and lips be the focal points. To start, I used the Love N' Taupe Jazy Jigsaw Eyeshadow Palette, which has eight taupe shimmer and matte shades. Brown is the color of the season and feels subdued enough to wear during the day. I used the shade in the bottom-right corner and the shade in the upper-left corner to create a latte-esque look.
Pro tip: Take a small-tip brush to drag some shadow along your lower lash line. As for the lips, I did a heavy coating of the Crystal Glaze Moisturizing Lip Care in Strawberry Milk, which is super hydrating, ultra-glossy, and leaves my lips looking extra shiny. To top it off, I applied a few dots of the Color Bloom Liquid Blush in Hot Topic (a little goes a long way, FYI) and diffused the bright and poppy shade with my fingertips."
