'90s Hair Gems Are the Latest Instagram-Approved Obsession
And they've gotten a 2016-friendly update.
Another day, another form of hair embellishment for festival season. A callback to the '90s (because is any other decade even relevant these days?), hair gems have made a triumphant return, but with a sleek modern twist. Unlike the super kitschy ornaments of our youth, the designs are more pared back—i.e. tiny and geometric—and most importantly, applied sparingly.
Like stickers, the gems feature peel-off, sticky adhesives that binds to the hair for all-day wear, without damaging the strands. And they're not just easy to apply, but come cheap too. We're talking drugstore cheap. A pack of Scünci's hair gems will only set you back $4 for 40.
And it's not just beauty-happy Instagram users getting in on the #hairgems action, as both Ashley Tisdale and Kelly Osbourne have rocked gem-spangled 'dos recently. See more takes on the trend below.
