Makeup How-To: The Perfect Red Lip
Paint your pout red—then the town.
When isn't red lipstick a good idea? Equally right with denim on any old Wednesday or with a traffic-stopping party frock during the holidays, the immaculately applied look is one you'll want to keep in your back pocket forever.
Before you begin, prep the skin by moisturizing with Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme, then applying Enlighten Even Effect Skintone Corrector SPF 30 to achieve a luminous, even toned glow.
Step 1. For the perfect red lip, start by muting out your lip color with a sponge using your regular foundation. Pro tip: This will allow you to make your lip shape more symmetrical with less distraction from other colors.
Step 2. Next, take your Double Wear Stay-in-Place Lip Pencil in Brick and apply an M shape at the Cupid's bow. Make sure your M is symmetrical, then continue outlining the top lip all the way to the corners.
Step 3. Next, outline your lower lip in small strokes so you keep the line straight.
Step 4. Fill in your lips with the same lip pencil for a more blended look and extra staying power.
Step 5. Now, apply your Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Emotional starting at the Cupid's bow down one side, down the other, then on the bottom lip from one corner to the other. Pro tip: Wipe a lip brush across the lipstick to pick up some product and apply along the lines you've already created to achieve an extra-precise lip line. You can use the brush on the other end of the lip pencil. Be sure to wipe the brush clean before you put it away.
