The 10 Best Diptyque Perfumes to Channel Your Filthy Rich Alter Ego
Say "oui" to one of these classic fragrances.
Fun fact: Diptyque didn’t start out as a fragrance brand. Founded by a trio of artist friends—Yves Coueslant, Christiane Gautrot, and Desmond Knox-Leet—in 1961, it initially sold fabric and home decor at its chic storefront on 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain in the heart of Paris’s Latin Quarter. Cut to 1968, and the brand decided to launch its first fragrance, L’Eau. The rest is history.
Now, in 2025, owning a Diptyque perfume is equivalent to owning a little slice of Parisian glamour and romance. While the candles do hold a special place in my heart, I ride hard for the fragrances. I will bet my most precious Chanel bag that you will not be disappointed by the brand's classics like L’Eau Papier Eau de Toilette or Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum. And new launches, like its Les Essences collection, have already earned permanent spots in my fragrance rotation.
But how can one narrow down the best perfumes from a storied fragrance house? It was tough, but I (and my nose) diligently tested every Diptyque scent in the wild. Below are 10 of the best Diptyque fragrances you should have in your scent wardrobe.
The Best Diptyque Fragrances
- The Best Diptyque Fragrance Overall: Diptyque Bois Corsé Eau de Parfum
- The Best Light Musk Diptyque Fragrance: Diptyque L’Eau Papier Eau de Toilette
- The Best Clean Musk Diptyque Fragrance: Diptyque Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum
- The Best Woody Floral Diptyque Fragrance: Diptyque Orphéon Eau de Parfum
- The Best Rose Diptyque Fragrance: Diptyque Rose Roche Eau de Parfum
Rich, creamy, and super sexy, Bois Corsé is a true stunner. It mixes notes of coffee, cedarwood, and sandalwood for a deep blend of wood and gourmand scents that are complex and intoxicating. It’s one of those fragrances that will stop people in their tracks once they get a whiff of you.
Fragrance Family: Woody
Key Notes: Café Arabica; Sandalwood; Tonka Bean
Size: 3.4 oz.
What I Love: Smells delicious; Long-lasting
What I Don’t: Some may find it too sweet and strong
Review for MC: “Arguably the most elevated (and chicest) gourmand in my collection, I get all the compliments when I wear Bois Coursé. It’s warm and creamy like most coffee and sandalwood scents are, but it’s also super seductive with a bit of smokiness. It draws people in, and as someone desperate for a meet-cute, this makes me fantasize about an Alexander Skarsgard look-alike approaching me at my favorite coffee shop because he couldn’t help but notice that I’m reading 'White Nights' by Dostoevsky and wearing this scent. Then we bond over literature, get married, and live happily ever after.” — Audrey Noble, Contributing Beauty Writer
If you’ve ever asked yourself what the next great literary novel would smell like, I’m telling you it would smell like L’Eau Papier Eau de Toilette. This merges notes of white musk, steamed rice accord, and mimosa for an elevated paper-like scent that’s equal parts musky and bright. If this doesn’t inspire you to look up the closest vintage bookstore for you to spend all day in, I don’t know what will.
Fragrance Family: Musk
Key Notes: White Musk; Steamed Rice Accord; Mimosa
Size: 3.4 oz.
What I Love: Lightweight; Complex; Unique scent
What I Don’t: It could be too lightweight for some
Review for MC: “I love the smell of paper (bookworms will get me), and this gives me that with a musk twist. It’s pretty lightweight, so I’m not overwhelmed, but I still find it lasts for a long time. One spritz and it gives me a creative burst, making me want to head over to the New York Public Library to finally start writing that novel I keep talking about. “ — Audrey Noble, Contributing Beauty Writer
Fleur de Peau is the perfect balance of old money sophistication without those stuffy vibes. It uses musk, iris, ambrette, and pink peppercorn to create a super fresh burst while deepening the finish with its darker base notes. Not too powdery or too soapy, it’s pretty perfect as far as musks go.
Fragrance Family: Floral Musk
Key Notes: Musk; Iris; Ambrette; Pink Peppercorn
Size: 2.5 fl oz.
What I Love: Balanced; Not too floral; Not too sweet
What I Don’t: Might be too powdery
Review for MC: “This just feels like pure luxury. It has a vintage powdery feel thanks to the musk and iris, but the pink peppercorn makes it a bit fresher and more modern, so I don’t feel outdated. It's what I dream my more mature and fabulous Upper East Side self would wear when I’m finally in the tax bracket to lunch at Bergdorf’s weekly and go to galas in my spare time. So until then, I’ll spritz this to manifest it.” — Audrey Noble, Contributing Beauty Writer
Very few things are cooler than the streets of Paris in the '60s. With notes of juniper berry, cedarwood, tonka bean, and jasmine, Orphéon is a lovely mix of sweet powder and warm wood. It’s rich while still being light and airy, a proper homage to the bars and jazz clubs that inspired one of the most creative and fun decades.
Fragrance Family: Woody
Key Notes: Juniper Berry; Cedarwood; Tonka Bean; and Jasmine
Size: 2.5 oz.
What I Love: Well-balanced
What I Don’t: Might be too powdery
Review for MC: “Sign me up for any scent inspired by the '60s nightlife in Paris, but this, in particular, is so effortlessly cool—like French socialite grabbing drinks with Karl Lagerfeld at all his Parisian haunts cool. It’s soft and powdery to give you that light, airy feel, but it dries down with great depth and warmth for something more decadent and creamy. It's a favorite scent of mine for when I go out.” — Audrey Noble, Contributing Beauty Writer
This isn’t your typical rose scent—and thank the fragrance gods for that. You still get a warm sweet floral note at the heart, but the lemon and patchouli notes bring a light and citrus twist. The contrasting levels harmoniously work together so even the most floral-averse want to consider this for their new signature scent.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Key Notes: Lemon; Centifolia Rose; Patchouli
Size: 3.4 oz.
What I Love: Well-balanced
What I Don’t: Might be too sweet
Review for MC: “Thanks to the lemon note, Rose Roche provides this with a zesty energy that makes it unlike any rose fragrance I have in my current fragrance wardrobe (which I have a lot of). It’s light and fun, and as an Aquarius, I appreciate any unique scent." — Audrey Noble, Contributing Beauty Writer
Other Diptyque Fragrances I Love
Do Son is fresh, like the bouquet of flowers I get from my local farmer’s market. It mixes notes of tuberose, orange blossom, and jasmine to bestow a sweet floral-meets-citrus smell on my skin. The amberwood, on the other hand, provides extra warmth.
Fragrance Family: Floral
Key Notes: Tuberose; Orange Blossom; Jasmine; Amberwood
Size: 2.5 oz.
What I Love: Nice, sweet floral; Long-lasting
What I Don’t: Might be too sweet for some
Customer Review: “Perfect scent, suits everyone. Lasts for long and just smells gorgeous. It’s unlike any perfume I've tried. I feel so luxurious when I wear it.! Definitely on the pricier side but i’d argue it to be worth it due to how amazing it is. Perfect for both men and women, the best unisex perfume on the market.” — Nordstrom
Inspired by the fig trees on a Greek island, this woody scent is exactly what I imagine a very chic forest would smell like. I smell deep, woody notes thanks to fig leaves and fresh plants courtesy of tree sap. It’s rich and elevated, reminding me of that one time I decided to do a Reiki hike amongst the trees upstate. It was such a calming and peaceful experience, I almost didn’t mind the tick bite I got on the journey.
Fragrance Family: Woody Green
Key Notes: Fig Leaves; Fig Tree Sap; Black Pepper
Size: 2.5 oz.
What I Love: Potent; Long-lasting
What I Don’t: Can be too green and woody
Customer Review: “I’m not sure what’s with this fragrance, but it’s stuck in my head and I’m craving it. It’s extremely fresh and green. There is absolutely no sweetness to it. It’s like that smell of freshly cut grass, just a fig version. Extremely nice and refreshing. I spray it after the shower and before I go to bed. It completely relaxes me. I’m not sure if I smell it during the day since I live in a dry, hot environment and it seems the smell disappears on me but I am sure it will be more pronounced during colder months. Love this smell!” — Nordstrom
Clean, floral, and not too sweet, Eau des Sens is a refreshingly cozy scent. It has bright orange blossom notes and juniper berry rounded out and grounded with greener notes like patchouli. As a born and raised LA native, it reminds me of times I would drive to the beach to sit and enjoy the sea breeze and decompress with my favorite fruit smoothie (and no, not from Erewhon. I was a Jamba Juice girly. Sorry not sorry).
Fragrance Family: Citrus Floral
Key Notes: Orange Blossom; Angelica Root; Patchouli; Juniper Berry
Size: 3.4 fl oz.
What I Love: A pretty bright floral; Long-lasting
What I Don’t: Floral notes may overpower the green notes; Not as well-balanced as others
Customer Review: “This Diptyque perfume feels expensive and luxurious. The fresh and light fragrance is elevated by the fact it lasts longer than most neroli based fragrances. I also recommend the other products in the range. Everytime I wear this I get asked what perfume I have on. Highly recommend if you want something fresh and clean with some strength.” — Nordstrom
Made with notes of mandarin, rose, and a salty mineral accord, this scent is a lovely green floral that brightens the senses. It’s inspired by the magic of coral reefs, and if you’re a water person like I am, it will remind you of those idyllic summer boat rides that take you to the perfect spot for snorkeling. For a calm and happy vibe, I have no notes.
Fragrance Family: Aquatic Floral
Key Notes: Mandarin; Rose Bourbon; Salty Mineral Accord
Size: 3.4 oz.
What I Love: Lovely sweet, green scent; Long-lasting
What I Don’t: Might be too green
Customer Review: “This fragrance hit its high note straight out the bottle and played it strong and steady for over twenty-four hours. Three days out from original spritz and I can still catch an echo of it in my hoodie. I’ve never met a citrus that performs like this. My favourite Diptyque to date.” — Fragrantica
An ode to the best city in the world IMO (a.k.a. Paris), Eau Capitale blends notes of rose, patchouli, and bergamot. The result: a powdery floral that’s super light but lingers on for hours in the loveliest way possible. One spray transports me to Palais Royal when the roses bloom. This fragrance makes me contemplate moving my entire life to live out my version of Emily in Paris.
Fragrance Family: Chyphre Floral
Key Notes: Rose; Patchouli; Bergamot
Size: 3.4 oz.
What I Love: Lightweight; Airy; Fresh
What I Don’t: Might be too powdery
Customer Review: “My favorite signature scent as I feel rich and happy when I wear it. Highly recommended.” — Nordstrom
