Céline Dion Is L'Oréal’s Newest Global Spokesperson
And I was lucky enough to spend 72 hours in Las Vegas with her and the brand.
Goosebumps formed as I attempted to maintain my composure while listening to living legend Céline Dion's magical vocals in-person. Here I was, watching the icon whip her hair back and forth while effortlessly sashaying across the stage in a gold, light-reflecting suit during one of the international superstar's last few shows of her 7-year-long residency in Las Vegas. It was overwhelmingly surreal. Not as surreal, though, as what happened the next day when I was one of the few to share a room with her and discuss some top-secret news.
Finally, I can share that I was in Las Vegas, not just to admire the 51-year-old's talent and beauty (which, I must add, truly knows no bounds—she's been serving us epic hair and makeup looks for years), but to celebrate her fitting announcement as L'Oréal Paris' newest global spokesperson.
Dion is the latest ambassador to join the ranks of such trailblazing women as Julianne Moore, Jane Fonda, and Eva Longoria. "L’Oréal Paris has a longstanding history of supporting women in their journey to fulfill themselves according to their own rules and desire," L’Oréal Paris Global Brand President Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglou said. He added that the brand purposefully chooses "spokeswomen who are strong, self-empowered, assertive, diverse and inclusive."
For the singer, this major opportunity couldn't have come at a better time, proving that there's power in self-discovery, which is an ever-evolving process. "First of all, you have to feel confident, sexy, powerful, and good inside," she told me and an intimate group of editors at a panel discussion the day after her performance in Vegas. Donning a fitted dress with exaggerated sleeves and a mystical smokey eye, Dion greeted us from the balcony of the penthouse suite in the Encore hotel with a wide smile. Her presence was even more captivating and vivid in this setting. "[Beauty] is inside-out. L'Oréal is giving me an opportunity to feel beautiful. Feeling beautiful makes you feel strong, and feeling strong makes you succeed. I’ve never felt as beautiful and as strong, and I really think that the best is yet to come," she told us.
After breathing the same air as Dion, I can attest that she exudes an intrinsic level of self-confidence that makes you feel as though you're in the presence of royalty. Angeloglou couldn't have put it better when he said: "Céline Dion is a woman of innate self-worth—following her heart to achieve success, challenge stereotypes, and trail-blaze the path for so many other women—and fully embodies our brand mission of 'Because I’m Worth it.'" The company's longtime mission aims to empower women to embrace the fullness of their beauty.
Dion's incomparable voice and record-breaking career has a flame that will not burn out. And, thankfully, we'll all get to be a part of that fire as we witness the up-and-coming L’Oréal campaigns she stars in.
